I've been poking around - there's plenty of references to HMAS Australia (1911) as HMS Australia, and one note saying it was taken into RN service and would actually have been HMS for a while - was this the case, does anyone know?
Named after the nation Australia????! None existed in 1888!
- Moved the page, Colledge lists her as being launched in 1886. Also only one HMS Australia listed, this one, and I'd say that was pretty definitive. No Australia in 1888? What's that about? Benea 15:53, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- To clarify what our unnamed friend said, Australia wasn't a nation until 1901. --BryanJones (talk) 19:24, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
