We are the music makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams;—
World-losers and world-forsakers,
On whom the pale moon gleams:
Yet we are the movers and shakers
Of the world for ever, it seems.

infinite carefulness
I listen, listen in the night
by the cradle deep as the night
is it well with the child?

Thanks for uploading Image:Honecker.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Almasy06.jpg}

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Almasy06.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --Chef Tanner (talk) 15:56, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Mysterious deaths of GEC-Marconi scientists, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

[edit]

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. Orphaned non-free image (File:Honecker.jpg)

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Honecker.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Tom (talk - email) 03:00, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Police raid protest april 20 06.jpg

[edit]

Hi Max rspct, I just have a question about the file File:Police raid protest april 20 06.jpg you uploaded. There is no description on its page, the source link doesn't work, and it looks like it's a screenshot from a TV show or video. That all looks pretty suspect, especially since it is an exceptional shot, the source is a website, and it was uploaded with a PD-self license. But luckily you're a frequent and current contributor, so I can ask you about it! If you have any details about when you filmed this, where it was, what was happening, etc. it would be great if you could add that to the image page. Thanks! - Gump Stump (talk) 16:26, 26 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again Max rspct. Could you answer the question above if you can? If you can't, I'll list the file for deletion in the next week or so. Thanks! - Gump Stump (talk) 03:25, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thälmann Island

[edit]

For that island being hoax, there are a lot of sources, referring to it, which can be found at the German Wikipedia entry: Thälmann Insel. That Thälmann Island was part of GDR is indeed doubtful, but the greatest sources against this are the governments of Germany and Cuba, which can't be seen as neutral in this concern. Toscho (talk) 09:22, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Isn't it partizan saying that? they are the only two govenments that are concerned with the issue and who could comment authoritively on it. Perhaps there's a maritime mapping agency or a subsection of the UN that could resolve the issue. Until then i wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. Having said that I would prefer the issue to be placed in an 'in popular culture' section though rather than in main body of text as it is detracts from the article and perhaps undermines the historical sovereignty of the GDR. ;) --maxrspct ping me 14:34, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Police raid protest april 20 06.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. I don't believe the file should be deleted simply based on suspicion. There should be an actual claim made by a supposed copyright holder. The image looks like it is from a cell phone and not a professional video, so there is every reason to believe the owner of the image uploaded it, unless another source or claim can be found. --Radical Mallard June 23, 2009, 5:55 PM EST

Second, go to the project talkpage and participate in a discussion about how to make the project more active, and how to go about making articles in our area of interest a lot better.

Please stop re-inserting your comments into an AfD that was closed nearly a year ago, as you have at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brainiak Records. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:08, 7 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited The Culture, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Fourier (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:08, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Federation graphic

[edit]

This here edit you made: [1] – misleading how? Just out of interest. Damvile (talk) 03:51, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That there graphic doesn't explain why it's coloured differently. It gives the impression that the UK is already out of the EU. If you want to put 'pending' in there on both the graphic and displayed version box then please do and it would be fine. I know it's on the image page descriptor but that is not evident to the reader unless they click through and scroll down. maxrspct ping me 03:57, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I see your point; thanks! Damvile (talk) 04:04, 19 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
