[edit]Wondering how to edit this U.S. City Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Cities standards might help.
I thought the U.S. Census Bureau didn't allow for placenames with less than one letter. That's supposedly "why" Y, Arizona (named for a fork in the road) became Why, Arizona.
- Place names with 'less' than one letter? That would save on signposts, at any rate :) Anyway, this place Y doesn't seem to appear on any of those map links...
- I couldnt find this on a paper map by DeLorme. I guess it isnt a town though, its just a grouping of some towns. There is a "Y Lake" about 100 miles to the east, but that's not close enough for it to conceivably be related. —Soap— 02:44, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
- I lived in Talkeetna for seven years, and the Mat-Su valley for 21 years. We always refer to the place where the Talkeetna Spur road starts as "The 'Y'," but the actual name of the area is "Sunshine." Since it lies between Trapper Creek, Talkeetna, and Willow, this is where the high school (grades 7-12) is located. All three towns share one school. As far as I know, this entire area is Sunshine, and only the area around where the road forms a literal "Y" is called, "The 'Y'," and only informally. Coordinate error?
[edit]I noticed that the coordinates on top of the page are different from the coordinates in the "Location and climate" section. Which ones are right? --Smeira 20:47, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
