Welcome!
[edit]Hi Sasquatch, and a warm welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you have enjoyed editing as much as I did so far and decide to stay. Unfamiliar with the features and workings of Wikipedia? Don't fret! Be Bold! Here's some good links for your reference and that'll get you started in no time!
- Editing tutorial, learn to have fun with Wikipedia.
- Picture tutorial, instructions on uploading images.
- How to write a great article, to make it an featured article status.

Most Wikipedians would prefer to just work on articles of their own interest. But if you have some free time to spare, here are some open tasks that you may want to help out :
Oh yes, don't forget to sign when you write on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments. And finally, if you have any questions or doubts, don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Once again, welcome! =)

Omro, Wisconsin
[edit]Hi, I undid your changes to Omro (town), Wisconsin as it is not the same entity as the city of Omro, Wisconsin. Please check a little more carefully before assuming similarly named things are the necessarily same. Thanks. older≠wiser 22:08, Jan 30, 2005 (UTC)

Votes for deletion
[edit]Hey! I'm glad to see someone taking such an interest in policing Wikipedia for nonsense articles. However, with such an article as Mike perdue, feel free to add {{delete}} to the top as this will make it a candidate for speedy deletion. This is good for patent nonsense articles or advertisment-like articles such as this one, which are so obvious that they do not require a vote.--naryathegreat | (talk) 03:27, Jun 5, 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, I personally think they are vague to keep article zealots from using policy to force them off the deletion page. Just use your instincts; if an admin doesn't think it's good for speedy deletion, they'll let you know or fix it themselves.--naryathegreat | (talk) 03:33, Jun 5, 2005 (UTC)
Vilen
[edit]I don't understand why people would want to get rid of the Vilen article. It is more important than all the dumb pokemon names found on wiki. And it isn't like wikipedia doesn't have enough room for the article. That's what really pisses me off, why are people so dumb about this article? Just leave it, it's not a POV it isn't a real waste of space nor offensive to anyone. If the only argument which you have is that no first names then lets get rid of all the first names, such as John, Tim, Harry, Phil, Tom etc... Please respond back to me, I'd like to her your thoughtful input. Posted by User:Moosh88
Well I could add more, and it would be great if you could give me some advice as to how I could make it better. Posted by User:Moosh88
I am going to edit the History of Armenia sometime soon along with the histories of other peoples and nations. But I want your help in making the Vilen article better, so that it isn't deleted. Posted by User:Moosh88
I understand what you mean, and I do work on lots of different articles, just look at my contributions list. But there are a few notable people with the surname Vilen, so I think I'll add that to the article. The Vilen article is on the Armenian wiki, I just thought that it should be on the English one too. This is just a side comment but it does it seem to you that some wiki members try to knock down other members' edits or articles for very trivial reasons? Lately I've been looking through the history pages of some of the articles I have visited and some people fight over a word or two. It just seems a little too ridiculus to me. Posted by User:Moosh88 P.S. I didn't understand what you meant by a disambiguation page, please explain.
Ok, I get what a disambiguation page is now, thanks man. I added some more information to the Vilen article, take a look and tell me if I need to add more, thanks! Posted by User:Moosh88
František Janák
[edit]Why is the VfD page on this protected? I did a Google search and this guy has art in museums and galleries all over the world (U.S., Japan, Germany, Spain - not just Czechoslavakia). The vote page needs to be unblocked. Thanks. DS1953 04:49, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)
hey
[edit]sorry...ill make one....thanks for help though....damn those copyrights..lol
Hi. Tong Ren Tang is rewritten. Cheers. -- BD2412 talk 16:53, 2005 Jun 13 (UTC)
VfD on Jason Court
[edit]Heello, I noticed that you nominated Jason Court for deletion [1]. I agree it was valid at the time, but I 've since rewritten it, and wonder if you want to reconsider your vote? Best Wishes. Scimitar 16:02, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Antidopaminergic
[edit]Sas. I did not know how to move an item to wikitionary and was pretty certain when I created the entry that it belonged there. I see you've made the request already and for that I thank you. Wjbean 16:06, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
František Janák
[edit]Sasquatch, on June 6 you listed František Janák at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Frantisek Janak. You withdrew the VfD nomination on the same day and also removed the VfD notice from the article, so although the article stayed on the VfD log, there was no notice on the article itself. On June 11, I did some research and completely rewrote the article. No one has closed the VfD log on this article and, as it stands, the "deletes" outnumber the "keeps". Since all the work I did was 5 days after the VfD notice was removed from the article, no one has noticed the VfD or voted to keep after my changes were made. Would you mind revisiting the VfD page and adding a "keep" vote to your withdrawal in case an over-eager closer decides to delete based on the actual count of votes? Thanks. DS1953 16:18, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks! DS1953 23:10, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)!
Rewriting again
[edit]Well, hello again! Just thought I would let you know that Kappa had a go at rewriting an article nominated for deletion by you at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Universities in Africa. I like the rewrite, and you just barely beat me to nominating this article to be deleted. Anyways, best wishes. --Scimitar 14:10, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Richard Clayderman
[edit]Why are you removing Clayderman's place of birth? Vorash 19:42, 19 July 2005 (UTC)
- Sorry, that was unintentional, think there was a timing conflict between our edits. Sorry, again, for the inconvinience. Sasquatch′↔Talk↔Contributions 19:44, July 19, 2005 (UTC)
- Note: I have corrected that error, thanks for notifying me. Sasquatch′↔Talk↔Contributions 19:47, July 19, 2005 (UTC)
New CSD
[edit]Hi there. You said in the VFD for Will Soderber that the CSD criterion had not passed so this article must come to VfD. The 'unremarkable persons' proposal did pass, and is now helpfully available over at WP:CSD, along with a page giving clarification. It will be a useful weapon, and this article is an excellent target. -Splash 21:29, 20 July 2005 (UTC)
- PS. The 'unremarkable bands' only got 69.5% so failed by a single vote. However, this article is about a person, not the band. I suspect we'll have to remind people of that from time to time... -Splash 21:30, 20 July 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks, I am well aware that the vanity had passed at that time (in fact, i added various speedy tags based on that), it just seemed that there was some (though it can be argued dubious) assertions of notability on the links (eg. the discography and tour dates) that led me to think it wasn't a cut and dry vanity page so I put it up on VFD. Thanks anyways =). Sasquatch′↔Talk↔Contributions 22:17, July 20, 2005 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I think this will be a problem with the proposal. I noticed further down you had mentioned the new policy, but forgot to come back here until now. I have added some speedy tags too. I fear that the admins will probably prefer to let the VfDs run though. -Splash 22:40, 20 July 2005 (UTC)

- Mostly because of your low editcount, in order to help people get a handle on you, I've asked 2 additional questions on your RfA page. I look forward to reading your responses. Your new friend, Tomer TALK 07:51, July 21, 2005 (UTC)

re:Subcats
[edit]Bleh. now I understand. Thanks for your help w/ that little project. I'll go now to review your RfA, although I'll be sure to hold off voting until my BAC is diminished. :-p Tomer TALK 06:49, July 21, 2005 (UTC)

VFDs
[edit]I think I've just fixed all my header issues, and now understand to insert the level 3 section marker. I know to use subst with {{vfd}} (I don't think i've done any with {{vfd2}} yet). what else am i missing, please? DES 02:26, 23 July 2005 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]Thanks for your help and understanding. BTW, I just did my first edits (on Ship breaking) and my user page. Did I do it OK? Like i said, I'm brand new and just got on because my husband showed it to me the other day :)Pamstar 15:22, 24 July 2005 (UTC)
What on earth? RfA madness!
[edit]I'm very concerned about some of the statements you made in your RfA. You told Rainbowwarrior1977 that "I did not strike out any of the oppose votes... If you look through the edit history, you will surely notice that Starblind did most of it." and also made comments to that effect on my talk page, as well. However, it is patently untrue. I made only two edits to your RfA. One to point out that Troll Hitler only had 3 edits (I did NOT strike out his vote or any other vote) and one to vote support. The striking out was done by User:Brian0918 in several edits with the edit summary "strike through bullshit votes".
I have no idea how you could have mistaken Brian's edits for mine, as they are not adjacent or even close to each other in the edit history (Brians are at least 10 edits after mine). The edit history proves and confirms all this.
I'm very annoyed that you would accuse me of something I haven't done. That is very poor behaviour for a potential admin, and I expect this matter to be cleared up soon.
If this is how you treat people who support you, I hate to think what you have in store for the opposition. Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 22:25, July 24, 2005 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for your replies and information. I'll look into the cookbook sites.

btw, I hope to get to know you better
mayor articles
[edit]I tend to write mayoral articles in bunches too. I generally write two or three in a span of about two days then take a break for a month or so. I'll probably get the article for Robert Colin Marshall up in the next couple of days. For some reason, I've been finding it a little more difficult finding information on him. -- JamesTeterenko 20:08, 25 July 2005 (UTC)
Copyright violation
[edit]Hi Sasquatch Got your message about copyright. Sorry about that. Didn't realize government articles would be coprighted. So I've now requested permission to use the extracted material. Copy of email below. (Actually I am from Calgary.. not Edmonton) but that doesn't mean we can't be friends. I know a lot of decent people from Edmonton... in spite of what anybody says.
Sir:
I would like to get permission to use portions of your biography of J. Percy Page, Leutenant Governor from 1959 to 1966 and former coach of the Edmonton Grads. I wish to create a short version of his biography on Wikipedia (open source online encyclopedia).
To view what I have written go to http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=J._Percy_Page&oldid=19429280
If permission to use the extract is received the article will become permanent with an external link to your (more complete) bio.
yours very truly E J Owens

Akhu
[edit]Thanks for having a measured response towards the blocking of this user. I have been monitoring this user's edits since 2 weeks ago, and he/she is still quite green to Wikipedia. This user very likely did not realize there were other rules regarding the blanking of articles. If you want to follow up on this, the articles in question are here, where I've written a long explanation for what has been going on. --HappyCamper 04:00, 29 July 2005 (UTC)
- Sorry, I was just away when the page deletion happened. I have no problems with the page deletion either, I think you made the right decision to remove it. I think about a week ago something was mentioned to me about the content being copywrited. It should have been mentioned on the talk page somewhere. Anyway, thanks for all your help again! User:Ahku is still leaving messages for me on my talk page, so I'm glad the deletion did not result in him/her leaving Wikipedia. --HappyCamper 12:27, 29 July 2005 (UTC)

so you're happy with the bit at the top "Star Wars fans are nerds and George Lucas is a shitty filmmaker." — Obi-Wan Kenobi
Sorry I was rude there, too. I missed the section that was blanked... forest for trees, etc.

Page deletion
[edit]Hello sasquatch, xtrump here again. Now I screwed up and don't know how to get out of it so am asking for your help, (I'm assuming you are an administrater and are authorized to perform deletions). I created a page for Ponoko but it didn't work out the way I wanted so it needs to be deleted. I've since created a new one but the versions created on 28th and 29th need to be deleted. Can you take care of this for me? Xtrump 03:36, 31 July 2005 (UTC)
Abraham Lincoln was a woman
[edit]Hi there,
I see you or another removed my article reprinted with permission, also as I was the originator of the article to begin with it should have been allowed to have been posted on wiki without censorship from you...or anyone for that matter as the "revisionist history" that it is in fact.
I find your attitude towards my article "Abraham Lincoln was a woman" to be rather disapointing indeed.
Thank you for your time in any event.

[edit]Thank you for your vote of support on my recent RfA. I was quite surprised by the amount of support I received, and wish to extend my thanks to you for taking the time to support my nomination for adminship. -- Longhair | Talk 12:05, 1 August 2005 (UTC)
Vfd closure
[edit]Sasquatch, thanks for the heads up about how to do that properly. I obviously don't participate in closing Vfd's on a regular basis — sometime ago I remember looking around unsuccessfully (probably not very hard) for a description of how to do it properly and came up empty-handed. So now I know. Cheers, Fawcett5 01:56, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
