*Hi, I'm just wondering about the page rap metal. It's currently a stub, and I'm wondering if it could be just made into a redirect to nu metal. Is there any significant difference between the two genres? Thanks, and it's good to have you with us. Meelar 09:27, 11 Jan 2004 (UTC)
- Umm I don't think theres really any difference. Not all nu-metal bands have rapping in their music and rap metal jsut refers to nu-metal bands with rapping in them. Arm
Hi. I would say either
- Budget generally refers to a list of planned expenditures...
or
- A budget is a list of planned expenditures...
i.e., if I'm writing about the word budget, and saying "refers to", I would italicize it, but if I'm writing about a budget -- the thing itself, rather than the word -- then I would not italicize it. Michael Hardy 00:42, 25 Nov 2003 (UTC)
Hi, on United States Constitution, it is completely NPOV to say, for instance, that Alexander Hamilton was a "brilliant young lawyer"; it would only be POV if there were reputable authorities who made the case that he was stupid (in which case I would like to see their names), and of course the "young" and "lawyer" parts are objective facts. It's not wrong to have qualitative assessments in encyclopedia articles, we just want the ones we have to be the consensus of the experts, not anything we made up ourselves. Stan 04:01, 7 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- I think I understand your concern, but that's not what NPOV is about; it does not dictate the removal of factual material, in fact the rule is to add more material to represent the alternate points of view. For instance, you could say "wide variety ..." and add ", although they had a common background as wealthy white landowners". It doesn't serve our readers well to reduce WP articles down so far that they don't say anything beyond a bare recitation of names and dates; the statement about variety of occupations is important to counter ignorant arguments that the Constitution was only drafted by lawyers, or businessmen, or whatever (I have heard those arguments, so it's not just hypothetical.) So achieve balance by adding facts, not deleting them. Stan 15:09, 7 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- It's looking much better! Your other tweaks are appreciated too BTW; it's a complicated article that deserves scrupulous wording. Stan 20:26, 7 Dec 2003 (UTC)
referencing the Trenton Ray page comment you placed in the history, the establishment is real and the article is entirely accurate, I frequent one at least once a week.
Most of my military info is naval and/or historical I'm afraid; I don't actually know anything more about counter-terrorism than what is in the article now. :-) Stan 14:10, 15 Dec 2003 (UTC)
Cleanup
Hi, at cleanup, you wrote:
- "The Wolf is an album by Andrew W. K. , but as it stands the article is an album review by a big fan. Needs a rewrite from someone. Should this be an article, or should I list it on VfD?"
This page was exactly the same as first version of Andrew W. K. before that was heavily edited so I deleted it but thanks for listing it at Cleanup. Angela. 05:15, 17 Dec 2003 (UTC)
What needs to be wikified at College of Cardinals is the names of the Cardinals and the dates of their appointment. You're just doing the easy stuff :) Adam 02:36, 16 Jan 2004 (UTC)
Dear Meelar: Hi1 Thanks for your commetary on my page regarding the Bush comment. The reason I reverted was that this commetary was done from a person without a name, and you know, rookies are famous for writing their point of views in this website. Hell, I used to do it all the time until I learned what NPOV was. So since the addres that put that about Chavez read something like 98.183.198 or something I thought maybe this was just a person putting his opinion.
I have no idea about politics in Venezuela other than that many see Chavez as a dictator and that Viasa stopped flying during his government..LOL
Thanks and God bless you. Now to work on my article about Angelines Fernández.

Hi Meelar, I'm going to have a go at making rondel into an article. I've found out quite a bit about them, but not once (in my googling) seen a reference to them being thrown. Can you tell me where you got this from (online, your memory, etc)? Cheers, Fabiform 04:56, 27 Jan 2004 (UTC)
- Thanks for the link Meelar, I had that one saved but had completely missed the reference to throwing daggers, duh. And there's nothing wrong with your stub, a vast improvement on what went before! Cheers Fabiform 16:45, 27 Jan 2004 (UTC)
- Well now rondel is a disambiguation page and rondel (dagger) is looking quite good (if I do say so myself). I now know more about rondels than any person could ever need to know. :) Fabiform 04:10, 28 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Dirac equation
I tried to correct this: where B = ×A is the magnetic field acting on the particle. This is precisely the Pauli equation for a non-relativistic spin-1/2 particle, in the article Dirac equation because there was where B =∇ ×A is the magnetic field acting on the particle. This is precisely the Pauli equation for a non-relativistic spin-1/2 particle, and I am triyng to translate it to catalan, do you know if it is correct?, in other case do you know who can tell it to me?

Just curious about your name
Where did "Meelar" come from? It resonates with me because of an obscure animated movie called Rock & Rule which me and my friends watched at least 200 times during our college years.... if you don't know what I'm talking about, then don't mind me. But I'd still be curious to know the origin.
You do great work on the 'pedia, by the way -- I'm glad you're part of the madness! -- Catherine 17:44, 5 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Hi, you are now a sysop. Enjoy. Bmills 16:02, 6 Feb 2004 (UTC)
Well, thanks. Some sentences just bother me, and I'm happy that at least some Bush edits are non-controversial :) - Nunh-huh 02:58, 7 Feb 2004 (UTC)

List of music videos
I really have no idea where to begin. I haven't been involved in that article at all; I just removed it from votes for deletion and listed it on cleanup because the consensus seemed to be that it needed a lot of work, but shouldn't be deleted. --Delirium 07:08, Feb 7, 2004 (UTC)
Sysopship
Hi, I noticed your question on Finlay's page. If you are an admin now, you should list yourself on Wikipedia:Administrators. The Wikipedia:Administrators' reading list is a good place to start. Basically, don't protect a page you've edited, don't edit page that is protected as a result of an edit war, don't delete pages unless a "rough consensus" has been achieved, give warnings to anons before you ban them and only ban logged in users if their only edits are simple vandalism, or if there is consensus their name should be changed. Don't worry too much about it. Everything other than page history merges and image deletions can be reversed by other sysops. Angela. 03:02, Feb 9, 2004 (UTC)
- Meelar, it is possible that you have not actually been upgraded to admin by a developer. Usually they tell you right away. I'm making an inquiry or two on your behalf and will get back to you. :) If you do discover you have your abilities to protect, rollback, etc., please let me know. :) Jwrosenzweig 22:16, 9 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- Re: your note, it is my belief that Bmills, while an excellent admin and one of my companions on a WikiProject, is not a developer. I do not believe that he can actually make you an admin (it requires the advanced developer status that only a few Wikipedians have). I hope we can sort this out. :) Jwrosenzweig 22:51, 9 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- From my talk page:
- Bmills attempted to make Meelar a sysop during the bried "interwiki bureaucrat" experiment. He accidentally forgot to type in the wiki where he wanted to make a sysop, and so he made Meelar a sysop on meta by mistake. -- Tim Starling 23:14, Feb 9, 2004 (UTC)
- I have to assume this means Tim will take care of things quite soon. Welcome to admin status (or welcome very shortly to it, at least!) :) Jwrosenzweig 23:20, 9 Feb 2004 (UTC)

Hi, you'll know when you are one as you'll see the "edit this page" link on protected pages instead of the "view source" link. If you still aren't one, just bug Tim. :) Angela. 23:25, Feb 9, 2004 (UTC)

Some basic questions Re: Wikipedia
Hi Meelar,
Thanks for the welcome comment! :) I am afraid that I don't know anything about the topics you suggested. I was hoping to stick with editing and writing in my main field of interest, neuroscience and especially hearing. I have a couple of questions with regard to Wikipedia.
Is it OK to download an image from the Wikipedia, edit it for content, and then upload it again to the Wikipedia? (There is one figure that could be used in the Wiki for many languages if it had the latin names instead of English ones...)
Is is OK to link to other web pages that have excellent coverage of a particular topic?
Thanks for advice, Ekretzmer 21:38, 14 Feb 2004 (UTC)
It's probably fine to download, modify and upload again. If a language is removed from one it's good to also upload the one with the language removed, to help others put on their own language. Jamesday 22:27, 14 Feb 2004 (UTC)
