It is important to mention who owns the browser

[edit]

For some reason the fact that it is owned by Chinese consortium, is unknown to most of the people who use it. 2A06:C701:4903:A200:FC72:201F:F603:C1F7 (talk) 21:37, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The updated infomation is needed

[edit]

The history ends at 2017 which is quite outdated. Browserkid (talk) 05:25, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing this out. @Maida210 and I extended the history section up to the present-day updates, noting down the more major updates to the browser. We only focused on updates from and post 2017, so it's possible some gaps still need to be filled in from before 2017. OWiestling (talk) 19:38, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Planned updates and additions to page

[edit]

Hi! I'm working with a partner to make some edits to the page. We plan on updating the outdated history section and possibly including a piece on previous controversy with the browser either in the Opera (web browser)#Reception section or making a dedicated section for it. Any suggestions, feedback, or concerns appreciated. Maida210 (talk) 01:27, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Published two edits, one to history changes and another to the GX section. Any feedback on the changes is welcome. Maida210 (talk) 04:58, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This should not be here, unless someone has any objections, or can explain why this is here, i will remove it in a week if there is silence. Zman714 (talk) 01:28, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The article is written in a way that excessively promotes all of the browser's features and it does read like an advertisement with all the features listed with descriptions of how they work. Additionally, this cites Opera's website itself very often. PunchboxNET (talk) 13:02, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
How would you suggest edditing this article so that it read less like an advertisement? it seems to me that the best source for what the Opera browser can do is it's own website. i'm open to suggestions, as I would like to make this article better because it was the reason i now use opera. Zman714 (talk) 18:59, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, there's probably not a lot that can be done, I checked other pages about browsers and realised most pages contain similar-looking features sections. You're probably right that {{advert}} doesn't belong. Not sure why it was added. PunchboxNET (talk) 19:30, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Simply for the record, you're good if i remove this (advert) from the article? Zman714 (talk) 02:53, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but maybe you should wait for a more experienced editor than me. (I have <100 edits) PunchboxNET (talk) 11:15, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, i'll probably just leave it then. Hopefully someone else will come along who has more experience. I'm pretty lacking in edits myself. Zman714 (talk) 12:44, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
