Avondale Shipyards Pleasure Boat Building
[edit]Missing from this article is information about the pleasure boats built by Avondale about 1950. Specifically, a number of 28' steel-hulled cabin cruisers Avondale called SAFTICRAFT. These boats were a slightly larger version of the STEELCRAFT boats designed and built in West Haven, Connecticut about 1948-1950. When STEELCRAFT went out of business, it gave the plans to Avondale and lent Avondale some engineering assistance. The STEELCRAFT story and its later relations to SAFTICRAFT are detailed in the 1948-1951 editions of MOTORBOATING "The Yachtsmen's Magazine."

[edit]Needs to be added in, but I'm not quite into it at the moment. Will do in a week or so if nobody else steps up.

Location
[edit]The yard was located on the west bank of the Mississippi River in an area called Bridge City, about 20 miles (32 km) upriver from New Orleans near Westwego, Louisiana.
I disagree with the 20 miles statement. The Lat and long in article is accurate. maybe 20 miles upriver from Chalmette. Driving is 25 minutes, between 12 & 15 miles by choice of route. Wfoj3 (talk) 16:53, 9 May 2021 (UTC)
