After the deletion of Nation of Britannica you really should have stopped doing what you are doing at User:Jammydodger/New Nation and its subpages. Wikipedia is not a free host or webspace provider and you should have moved all this to http://uk.msnusers.com/TheNewNation --Henrygb 12:31, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)

uploaded images
[edit]Hi,
When you upload an image for which you own the copyright, you *must* either release it under the GFDL or release it into the public domain. It says that on the upload page: "If you upload a file here to which you hold the copyright, you must license it under the GNU Free Documentation License or release it into the public domain." Images which you create are not fair use. Please go back over your image uploads and license them as appropriate. kmccoy (talk) 9 July 2005 18:04 (UTC)
Some hints for images
[edit]Hello!
Thanks for uploading some pictures to Wikipedia. I wanted to make sure you were aware of some of the specific requirements for newly uploaded images.
- Pick an image name.
- When uploading an image, pick a file name that is short, descriptive, and unique. Remember that many images may be uploaded about the same topic, and remember that names are case sensitive.
- Source the image.
- On the image description page, explain where the image came from. If you created the image yourself, then say so. If it's from the web, give a URL. If it's a screenshot of a movie or game, or a scan from a book, give the title.
- Provide copyright and license information.
- This part is a little bit trickier, but it's very important. The copyright of the image generally belongs to whomever created it.
- If it's a photograph you took, or an image you created (modifying an image that already exists doesn't count) in software like Photoshop or GIMP, then you own the copyright. To upload it to Wikipedia, you must agree to license it under the GFDL (which allows anyone to use it, but requires that they give credit to the original author and requires that any further edit to the image be licensed under the GFDL as well) or release it into the public domain (which allows anyone to use it for any purpose without restriction.) Do this by placing an appropriate tag on the image description page, like {{GFDL}} or {{PD}}. Be sure to mention that you created the image. If you're using {{PD}}, you may also want to use {{NoRightsReserved}}, since there is some dispute as to whether one may grant items into the public domain.
- If you didn't create the image, or the copyright somehow belongs to another party (like a screenshot, which you might "create", but the copyright belongs to the author of the movie or video game), then you need to find another tag that describes the copyright status of the image. Images used on Wikipedia need to be free for our use and the use of sites which reproduce our content. This means that images cannot have a restriction such as "only for use by Wikipedia", or "for non-commercial use only", or "for educational use". Images without a free license may be usable in certain articles under fair use, but such a use should be justified on the image description page.
- Describe the image.
- To another reader, the image may not be immediately understood. A caption in an article doesn't explain the image to a visitor who sees it on its image page. Put a brief explanation of what is in the image on the image description page, similar to what you might include in a caption on an article.

Thanks again for your contributions. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me at my talk page.
While you're doing a better job with licensing now, you still need to provide source information -- I think most of the images you upload are probably created by you, but you need to say that on the image's page. Thanks again. :) kmccoy (talk) 23:33, 28 July 2005 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Bill_Ramell.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Bill_Ramell.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

Image Tagging for Image:BRITANNICA50.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:BRITANNICA50.png. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to indicate why we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies under Wikipedia's fair use guidelines, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you want the image to be deleted, tag it as {{db-unksource}}.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.

Image Tagging Image:Japan - House of Representatives.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Japan - House of Representatives.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an arguement why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. User subpages still needed?
[edit]Hey there...
I am trying to clean up some of the images with minor licensing issues and I came across Image:1992 BGE - seats-votes.jpg which is only used on one of your subpages User:Jammydodger/Britannican General Election, 1992 whihc I see you have not edited since 2005. I wonder if you still need the subpage and/or the image.
- The same with Image:1998 BGE - seats-votes.jpg on User:Jammydodger/Britannican General Election, 1998
- and Image:2000 BGE - seats-votes.jpg on User:Jammydodger/Britannican General Election, 2000
To delete the subpages, add {{db-user}} to the top of each page; for the images see the instructions at WP:IfD or drop me a note to my talk page and I will nominate them for you if you like.
At a minimum, if you are going to use the images, could you go and fix the licensing on the image pages and be clear about releasing the image under a GFDL license (or other free license). Thanks. If you have any questions, please drop me a note on my talk page. --Jordan 1972 (talk) 00:20, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Harlow election results
[edit]Hi there. Thanks for creating File:Harlow.JPG comparing election results in the Harlow constituency to the national vote totals. Unfortunately, the national numbers for 1979 seem to be inaccurate: it currently shows a wide national lead for Labour whereas, as I'm sure you're aware, Margaret Thatcher's Conservatives won that election comfortably. Perhaps you could correct it? Many thanks. — Lincolnite (talk) 18:43, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, the dotted line is to show what the vote share in the constituency would have been if it had followed national trends, and does not denote what the actual national vote share was in that election. It is probably marked unclearly, which I do apologise for and will probally update it in the near future. --Jammydodger (talk) 16:23, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Elect Prediction - 4 april 05.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Elect Prediction - 4 april 05.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit]A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Stable or boom & bust.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.
BCE vs BC
[edit]I noticed in the Pavlopetri wiki page you change the BCE to BC. When referring to dates we should be using the BCE/CE abbreviation for "before common era" and "common era". Please do not edit any more wiki pages to change BCE to BC or CE to AD.

File copyright problem with File:Chingford & Woodford Green.png
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Chingford & Woodford Green.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILYsock(TALK) 07:51, 21 April 2010 (UTC)
The article 1983 United Kingdom general election result in Essex has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- A completely unnecessary list of the 1983 election results in Essex. All of the information is already available at both List of MPs elected in the United Kingdom general election, 1983 and the various constituencies' articles.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Disambiguation link notification
[edit]Hi. When you recently edited Conservative Party (UK) leadership election, 1965, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ian Macleod (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:26, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
The article Cecilia Schelin Seidegård has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. joe deckertalk to me 00:39, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Christine Wilhelmine of Hesse-Homburg, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.thefullwiki.org/Frederick,_Duke_of_Mecklenburg-Grabow.
It is possible that the bot was mistaken and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.)
