Hello, and welcome to wikipedia. The easiest is to put it in just like this: [[Image:imagename.jpg]], but that will just show up in the middle of the page. If you want to float the image on the right (for example) as I have done on my user page, just click "edit this page" on my user page and you'll see what code you can use. But first you have to upload the image. If you want I can do the image formatting for you in order to demonstrate. --snoyes 06:20, 25 Jan 2004 (UTC)
That is a very nice picture. You have to upload it to wikipedia before you can use it, though. And I'd suggest resizing it so that people on a slower connection can also look at your page. ;-) --snoyes 06:29, 25 Jan 2004 (UTC)
- If you want to know everything in gory detail, you can have a look at Wikipedia:Image use policy. --snoyes 06:31, 25 Jan 2004 (UTC)
It seems to be that the images you are uploading are 0 bytes big (See eg. File:Treefrog.gif). I'm not entirely sure what is going wrong. --snoyes 06:47, 25 Jan 2004 (UTC)
It seems that you might have entered the wrong filename in the upload dialog box. Maybe try again. Make sure to select the image with the "browse" button. --snoyes 06:51, 25 Jan 2004 (UTC)
Oh, that. ;-) If you spend a reasonable amount of time on wikipedia you shall invariably encounter malcontents who are intent on pushing their views, no matter what. At the moment it is rather hard to get rid of them by other means than ignoring them. So at times I have to collect evidence to show people just how destructive someone can be. :) --snoyes 07:04, 25 Jan 2004 (UTC)
Seems like your upload worked. It's a .bmp though, ugh! :) Can't you resize this as a jpg? It'd look much better. --snoyes 07:11, 25 Jan 2004 (UTC)
Regarding lord kenneth: I prefer to keep the talk about other wikipedians on wikipedia to a minimum (#wikipedia on freenode is better suited for that ;-) ), but: I largely agree with his position on the Talk:Atheism page, (I haven't looked at the dispute he is engaged in on Scientific skepticism), but I think that he is making personal attacks that are no advantageous to his position, which is unfortunate. --snoyes 07:14, 25 Jan 2004 (UTC)
Hi, welcome
[edit]Hi! Welcome to wikipedia. The bmp image you have uploaded and is listed on your userpage seems to have dissapeared due to a server problem (actually a hard disk drive problem I think). These days several images have been dissapeared because of this problem. As far as I know, the people who manage the servers are trying to restore the images so they may appear again in the future. You can of course upload again the image. I noticed you are homeschooled and I would like you to know that I like the homeschooling idea. That's all I had to say, I hope you will enjoy your stay in wikipedia. may you have peace profound, Optim 20:48, 31 Jan 2004 (UTC)
Homeschooling project
[edit]Hello, My name Master Scott Hall (you can call me Scott). I am relatively new contributing to Wikipedia, though I have been a user of it for some time. I am currently soliciting for interest in a Wikiproject that I have proposed on the subject of homeschooling. Before finding Wikipedia, my wife and I were seriously considering, but not quite convinced, to home educate our children.
After discovering the depth, scope, and long-term goals of Wikipedia, as well as the individuals driving it, I am convinced that WP has the potential to revolutionize homeschooling. I am also convinced that home education is the right choice for my family. I have, however, been somewhat discouraged by the oversight of home education in most of the education related projects on WP. There are many potential reasons for this discrepency, but I have resolved to try to do something about it.
Although I personally have very limited experience in building complex Wikiprojects, -templates, -portals, etc., I am confident that the right team can be assembled to tackle these issues. I would like to invite you to join this effort to make Wikipedia the resource for the home education of our children. If you are interested, please visits the temporary project page I have set up. Thank you --Master Scott Hall 00:04, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
- Update: The proposed project on Homeschooling was met with a very positive response. As a result, the project has been ugraded to an official WikiProject and can be found at WikiProject Alternative education. We have several experienced Wikipedians on board, as well as some new faces. We still need contributors with backgrounds in education, education theory and philosophy, and specific alternative education methods, such as homeschooling, charter schools, and E-learning from both teacher and student perspectives. There is also a lack of quality resources regarding anti-alternative education issues. If are interested in contributing or just have an interest, please visit the project page, or if you prefer, ask us a question. Thank you again, Master Scott Hall 18:48, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
