List

[edit]

I've moved this back to Screenwriter from List of screenwriters. If someone would like to break the list out into a separate list of screenwriters, that would be fine and dandy, but here at screenwriter there should be and remain a description of the role of the screenwriter in the filmmaking process. --Brion 18:38 Apr 13, 2003 (UTC)

I've moved the "some notable screenwriters" list, which had accumulated 93(!) names, to list of screenwriters. --Mrwojo 00:15, 1 November 2006 (UTC

Hampton Fancher???

[edit]

He only wrote two films after Blade Runner, neither of which were all that impressive. I would recommend his removal from this list as a notable screenwriter. Any argument?? Herandar 03:50, July 17, 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, I've moved the list so that it isn't quite so constrained by the apparently mystifying concepts expressed by "some" and "notable". --Mrwojo 00:15, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The description is too short. Many word about script doctors(little part of screenwriters) and few words about screenwriters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.222.128.117 (talk) 18:40, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge

[edit]

As has been noted by DirectRevelation on the Scriptwriter talk page, the two articles seem to be talking about the same thing. If no one disagrees, I'll merge the two by Saturday. --J. Atkins (talk - contribs) 21:38, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

From my reply to DirectRevelation on the Scriptwriter talk page:

Hmm... no one else had commented, so I had decided to merge the two articles, until after closer reading I realized that a screenwriter is a type of scriptwriter; namely one who writes plays. I had considered leaving it as a stub, whilst removing the redundant content already included in Screenwriter, and perhaps adding a list of notable screenwriters, as well as using the Main template in simplified sections of each type to link to the main articles. This would probably have been the most sensible thing to do, if I'd had the time (or perhaps anyway ;)), but instead I've converted this into a disambiguation page - the individual articles for the different types of scriptwriters are in total relatively substantial (okay, not screenwriter, but...), so that's another reason I don't/didn't see the need for keeping this as a separate article. If someone else has the time and feels it necessary to convert this back to a (substanial, please don't bother with another stub) separate article again, go ahead. Thanks for bringing this up DirectRevelation; hopefully this change will remove ambiguity/confusion relating to the two terms.

Hope this clarifies things.

Proposed merge of Screenwriter's salary into Screenwriter

[edit]

This is essentially a dictionary definition and poorly sourced with an arbitrary (and dated) list of "records". Minimal amount of this is encyclopedic, and should just be merged into Screenwriter ZimZalaBim talk 04:58, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Merge per above. DMT Biscuit (talk) 23:25, 23 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
